This is the first update since Kimodameshi Online launched. Based on your feedback and bug reports, we've added new elements to make the game scarier, made adjustments to make it easier to play, and fixed bugs.
What's new
- Added “Phone ringing,” the bell of an old rotary phone ringing out, and “Kid laughing,” heard right beside you, to the Sound Traps placeables. Both can also be chosen as the “Sound Effect” you attach to a drawing.
- Photo targets such as abandoned indoor shoes and a bloodied shoe now appear on the rooftops in every match (2 on each of the 2 rooftops, 4 in total; previously just 1 appeared, in 25% of matches). To go with this, the total number of photo targets per match has been increased from 75 to 79.
- Portraits, child's drawings, old clocks, demon masks and old Noh masks can now be tilted along the wall when hung on one. Use the mouse wheel (left/right on the D-pad with a controller), or select one after placing it and drag, to tilt it in 15-degree steps — it can even go upside down (works both during matches and in the Haunted House Editor).
- While a streamer is downed, a marker with the face and name of every other player who can still move now appears above their heads. It shows through walls and at a distance, so you can find someone to call for help (traitors get the same marker, so it doesn't reveal who they are — it only shows where everyone is).
- Added one new tip to the tips shown during the streamers' preparation time. See for yourself in the game what it says.
Changes
- Of all the interferences, only “Flashlight jam” has had its duration shortened, from 15 seconds to 5 seconds (all other interferences still last 15 seconds). The wait before it can be used again (the “Interference charge time” room setting, 20 seconds by default) is unchanged.
- Lowered the traitor's base subscribe rate from 1% to 0.5%. It stays at 1% for streamers.
- The subscribe rate multiplier for streamer knockdowns is now ×0.8 for 1 knockdown, ×0.6 for 2, and ×0.3 for 3 or more (previously ×0.5 was applied for each knockdown, down to ×0.125 at 3 or more). The Knockdowns row on the results screen now also shows how many times it happened.
- The subscribe rate multiplier for a streamer's death has been changed from ×0.25 to ×0.5. It stacks with the knockdown multiplier (e.g., 1 knockdown followed by death gives 0.8 × 0.5 = ×0.4).
- After you've used the classroom lights (once per player per match; they go out after 30 seconds), looking at the switch now shows “You've already used the lights this round (once per player),” and while they're on it shows “The lights are on.” This rule has also been added to the “Game Rules” guide.
- Pressing “Play” without entering a name now opens a small window for choosing one. You can't go on to create or join a room until you've chosen a name (empty names can no longer be saved).
- For players who have a saved haunted house, the traitor's preparation time now starts on the Haunted House tab. Players without one still start on the Props tab holding a teddy bear, as before.
- Removed the “This room” placement count from the top right of the Haunted House Editor. The overall limit is still shown, and the rules on how many objects you can place haven't changed.
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where trying to use a door, curtain or locker near a switch, or helping up a downed teammate, could turn on the classroom lights without you noticing and use up your one use. Now only the thing closest to the center of the screen is used, and helping up a teammate never turns on the lights.
- Fixed an issue where a drawing you were working on in a room could be lost, for example when the room was closed. Unsaved drawings are now saved automatically when you leave a room (room closed, kicked, disconnected, or leaving yourself) and go into “Drawing” under Customize.
- Drawings a traitor is working on during a match are now also saved automatically when the screen closes on its own, such as when voting starts or preparation time ends. You can continue them from “Pictures” in the Placeable menu (closing it yourself, with ✕, Esc, etc., still doesn't save, as before).
- Fixed an issue where, in a room that had already played a match, players who joined after the host changed the room settings following a match (including presets, “Reset to default,” and adding or removing the “Horror-shy” tag) got stuck on the loading screen.
- Fixed an issue where, if someone left or loading took too long while a game was starting, players could get stuck on the loading screen or be sent back to a room with no school building. Now everyone loads again before returning to the room, and the room screen lets you know that the start was cancelled.
- If the loading screen when entering a room hasn't finished after 60 seconds, or loading fails, you now leave the room automatically and the reason is shown on the “Play” screen.
- Fixed an issue where “Join” still appeared in the Steam friends list even when the room was full.
- Fixed an issue where you could slip through the side walls of the stairwell structure on the rooftop and fall onto the stairs inside. On the side with the door, an invisible wall that stopped you about 20 cm in front of the visible wall has also been lined up with it.
- Fixed text spilling outside the info panel at the top right of the Haunted House Editor when it had many lines (the panel now grows to fit its contents).
You can't play together with versions from before this update. If you can't get into the same room as your friends, make sure everyone has updated the game to the latest version on Steam.
