Kimodameshi Online — Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Panda (“we”, “us”; パン田 in Japanese) handles information in the Service: the game Kimodameshi Online (full version and demo), the official website, the official Discord server and its moderation bot, and the Discord app “Kimodameshi Online”.
1. Who we are
- Panda. We'll provide our legal name and address without delay on request.
- Contact: the official Discord server (https://discord.gg/gFvdH4ZgV7)
2. Information we receive and keep
Just playing the game doesn't cause us to keep any information about you (for in-game news, see 3 (6)). The only information we receive and keep is the following.
(1) The moderation bot on the official Discord server
| Information | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Discord user ID; support ticket type, status, and dates; ID of the person who closed it | Handling support requests | While the bot is running (deleted on request) |
| User ID; looking-for-group post type, language (from your Discord language setting), times, and status | Posting and closing looking-for-group posts | While the bot is running (deleted on request) |
| User ID and time zone offset (only if you enter it) | Pre-filling your next post | While the bot is running (deleted on request) |
| User ID of the person who created a voice room | Cleaning up empty rooms | Until the room is gone |
| Anti-spam: user ID, channel, time, number of attachments | Detecting and handling spam | 15 seconds to 5 minutes for detection; entries in the staff-only log: while we run the server (deleted on request) |
The bot doesn't read message content. Its records are stored on a server we rent.
(2) Support requests
Messages and images you send through a support request on the official Discord server stay in a private thread that only you and we can see. We use them to reply and resolve the request.
(3) Workshop moderation
When we take action on a Workshop post for breaking the rules, we keep a record on Cloudflare: the post's ID and title, the poster's SteamID, the action, its duration, the reason, and the date.
3. Information sent while you play
For online play, the game uses Steam (Valve) and Epic Online Services (Epic Games; “EOS”). This information doesn't pass through our servers. The demo uses only some Steam features (no EOS, voice, or news).
(1) Visible to people in the same room
- Your player name (after filtering), character, chat messages, voice, drawings, placed haunted house items, and match results
- Chat is relayed through the device of the player who opened the room. That device receives messages before filtering.
- Voice starts with your mic on when you join a room (Quick Match rooms start muted). Nothing is recorded.
(2) Visible to people searching for rooms
- The room name (the host's player name), language, region, and rules. Private rooms don't appear in the in-game list.
(3) Visible to Steam users
- Haunted house sets you post to the Workshop (title, description, contents, drawings, preview image, and your SteamID and Steam name). Posts are public.
- Leaderboards (Steam name and score)
- While you have a room open, your Steam friends see “Hosting a room” or “In a match,” plus the info needed to join.
(4) Sent to Steam (Valve)
Achievements and stats (play time, number of matches, and so on), leaderboards, the information in (3), friend invites, Workshop posts, votes, and downloads, settings and save sync (Steam Cloud), and text for filtering (without saying who wrote it). The game receives your SteamID, language, and country from Steam. The country is only used as the default region when you create a room.
(5) Sent to EOS
The game signs in to EOS with your Steam sign-in, which creates an EOS user ID (no Epic account needed). It sends room information, game traffic (relayed by EOS when a direct connection fails), and voice (which passes through EOS servers).
(6) The official website (Cloudflare)
On the title screen, the game downloads news from the official website. It sends only the game's version name; your IP address reaches the server as part of how the internet works.
(7) Where information goes
| Recipient | Information | Purpose | Their policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Valve (Steam) | (3) and (4) above | Achievements, leaderboards, Workshop, invites, sync, filtering | https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/ |
| Epic Games (EOS) | (5) above | Sign-in, rooms, networking, voice | https://www.epicgames.com/site/en-US/privacypolicy |
| Cloudflare | IP address, game version name, pages viewed | Serving the website and in-game news | https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ |
| Google (Google Fonts) | IP address, browser information | Website fonts | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google (YouTube) | IP address, browser information, playback activity | The trailer on the website (only after you press play) | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Discord | Everything you do on Discord | The official Discord server and bot | https://discord.com/privacy |
4. Information stored on your device
The game saves the following. It doesn't send them anywhere on its own (except Steam Cloud sync).
- Location:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\pandavirtual\Kimodameshi\(demo:…\Kimodameshi Demo\demo\) - Per Steam account (synced with Steam Cloud): settings (player name, volume, controls, and so on), blocked players (EOS user ID and the name at the time), per-player voice volume (EOS user ID), records, haunted house sets (including the SteamID and name of the creators of sets you downloaded), and your drawings
- This PC only: display settings, microphone device, the last SteamID used, and a copy of the news
- Windows registry (
HKCU\Software\pandavirtual\Kimodameshi): which news you've read. Settings from older versions (such as your player name) may remain here. - Log (
Player.log): normally errors only. An error may include the save location (which contains your Windows user name and SteamID) or your microphone's name.
To delete them, delete the folder above. Data synced with Steam Cloud also stays on Steam.
5. The official website
- We don't use cookies or analytics tags.
- Saved in your browser (never sent off your device): whether to play the chime, that you closed the language banner, effect history, and your Thumbnail Maker work and the images you loaded (and their file names).
- Outside connections: opening any page connects to Google Fonts. The trailer connects to YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play.
- We don't track you, so “Do Not Track” signals don't change anything.
6. The Discord app “Kimodameshi Online”
We don't currently collect any information through this app.
7. Why we use information
- Online play (creating, finding, and joining rooms; networking; chat; voice)
- Achievements, leaderboards, the Workshop, and settings sync
- Preventing and dealing with abuse (filtering, removing players from rooms, blocks, Workshop moderation, and anti-spam on Discord)
- Answering support requests
- Running the official Discord server (looking-for-group posts, voice rooms, roles)
- Delivering the website and in-game news
For people in the EU, UK, and similar regions: 1, 2, 4, and 6 are necessary to perform our agreement with you (the Terms of Service). 3, 5, and loading the website's fonts are based on our legitimate interest in keeping the Service safe and easy to use.
8. Sharing
We don't share the information we keep with anyone without your consent, except where the law allows, such as when required by law.
9. International transfers
Valve, Epic Games, Discord, Cloudflare, and Google are U.S. companies, and information may be handled in the U.S. and elsewhere. We are based in Japan. For people in the EU: the EU recognizes Japan as providing adequate protection.
10. Security
- The bot's records are kept on a server only we can access, and the bot's keys are stored only on that server.
- Only we can access the Workshop moderation page.
11. Your rights
- You can ask us to show, correct, or delete the information we keep about you, or to stop using it. If you're in the EU, UK, or a similar region, you can also object to processing, receive your data, and complain to your local data protection authority.
- How to ask: through a support request on the official Discord server. We confirm it's you through your Discord account.
- We'll generally reply within one month.
- For information held by Steam, EOS, or Discord, please contact those companies.
- Complaints about how we handle information are also accepted on the official Discord server.
12. Children
We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we'll delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll announce it on the official website and the official Discord server and update the date on this page.
14. Language
This policy is published in 8 languages. If the versions differ, the Japanese version takes precedence.
